Brigid was one of the Tuatha Dé Danann (the pre-Christian deities of Ireland - the people or tribes of the Goddess Danu), and her feast day is Imbolc, in February. The cross of Brigid found in Ireland pre-dates Christianity. It is usually woven from rushes, and was used to protect homes and farms, and to welcome the Sun Goddess and the fertility of Spring into our homes.
