Green Woodpecker (female)
Posted on
Apologies for the quality of this photo, but it was taken through glass and at maximum zoom into our garden. Male Green Woodpeckers have red in their lower "moustache", and both genders have the same feather colours, bars and colouring. Female Woodpeckers have black beak markings. They all feed on ants, ants, and more ants - so they love our garden! Apparently they are found throughout the UK except in the far North, West and Ireland according to the RSPB. ©Photo Copyright: Terri Robertson www.tribesandvibes.co.uk
